Fake jobs, immigration fraud: 59-year-old Indian-origin man Umesh Patel sentenced to home detention in New Zealand

An Indian-origin Auckland man, Umesh Patel, has been sentenced to nine months of home detention for orchestrating an elaborate immigration fraud scheme. Patel created fake jobs and submitted fraudulent documents to Immigration New Zealand, charging applicants between NZD $10,000 and $30,000. The scheme, which ran for years, undermined the integrity of New Zealand’s immigration system.
