Inquest exposed inmate health-care failures in Ontario jails that staff, advocates say are widespread

The inquest into the death of a Wiikwemkoong First Nation man at the Sudbury Jail has exposed long-standing, Ontario-wide failures in correctional health care, say advocates and correctional officers. For inmates to have a chance at getting out and being productive, “they need to be well,” says the John Howard Society of Sudbury’s CEO.
