RCMP say 70 trees deliberately cut, left to die in Powell River, B.C.

Police say municipal staff inspected the site and found the trees were left standing but had been cut around their bases, likely with a chainsaw. Many of the trees that were cut were older-growth Douglas fir trees, valuable to the community and ecosystem.
