Chess boom continues! 16-year-old Ilamparthi becomes India’s 90th GM

Chennai’s 16-year-old Ilamparthi AR has become India’s 90th Grandmaster, achieving his final norm at the Bijeljina Open. He previously secured norms in Vietnam and Singapore, crossing the 2500 Elo mark. Nurtured by Velammal School and supported by initiatives, Ilamparthi trains under Viswanathan Anand’s academy.
