New rifles on the way for Canada's soldiers as defence spending ramps up
The Canadian Army will start to replace its entire stock of assault rifles, starting next year. Internal documents obtained by CBC News show a contract under the Canadian Modular Assault Rifle program is imminent. The deal is expected to boost production at a Canadian arms maker as part of the federal government’s drive to boost the defence industrial base.
