After he returned mistaken $24,000 tax refund, his CRA account was locked, actual tax refunds delayed

When Alex Pilon received a $24,274.26 deposit in his bank account last March labelled ‘Tax Refund – Canada’ he knew it was a mistake, contacted the Canada Revenue Agency and returned the full amount. A year and a half later, the Thunder Bay, Ont., resident has been locked out of his CRA account and still hasn’t received the tax refunds he was actually expecting.
