Sittilingi: a tribal valley’s inspiring success story

In Sittilingi, a valley in western Tamil Nadu, the infant mortality rate in the early 1990s was 147 babies for every 1,000 births. Today, it stands at eight. In the intervening years, the one factor that changed local dynamics and improved healthcare and general standards of living in this largely tribal belt was the involvement of a doctor couple and their dedicated team.
